west coast swingPlayful, often sexy, fairly complex, and reasonably varied its a fairly complicated 'lead & follow' dance to learn where the partners do not mirror each others footwork and works best to slow to medium tempos. West Coast Swing clearly has its roots in LindyHop, though it seems likely that it is most closely linked to the smoother, more subdued style of Dean Collins (AKA Hollywood Style) rather than the more frenetic style that is associated with the Savoy Ballroom of Harlem, NYC. WCS employs a slotted style similar to Hollywood Style Lindy - it is thought this was either to make best use of cramped dance floors -or- to accomodate Hollywood movies and static cameras.
